"The idea behind the song, with its repetitive refrain, was to focus on the horrifying belief that something is indeed alive within you. It's a primal dread that Morgellons taps into, and I felt the lyric should reflect that. There are just three components - as befitting an illness that is poorly understood and based around belief as opposed to empirical evidence: the primal fear that something has infested your body; the equally unsettling notion that there is a "they" out there (be it a New World Order, secret elite, or what have you), that is manipulating this; and a fear (rather more rational in this instance), of Genetically Modified Organisms - GMOs. While I am not, in any way, linking GMOs to Morgellons, the emergence of monocultures certainly is concerning, and the concept - often poorly understood - helps to fuel the fires of those who believe there is an overarching global conspiracy in play."
